Xiamen University was founded by Tan Kah Kee in 1921. Its School of Medicine, established in 1996, delivers the six-year English-taught MBBS at Xiang’an. Medical learning includes laboratory work, simulation and hospital training. English-taught design and art programmes are based at Zhangzhou and have separate degree and accommodation arrangements.
MBBS at Xiang’an
The full-time English programme lasts six years, with a permitted study period of six to eight years. It develops scientific understanding, clinical reasoning, patient communication, ethics, teamwork and professional practice. HSK Level 4 is required before clinical practice.
Design and art at Zhangzhou
Environmental Design, Visual Communication Design and Digital Media Art are four-year English-taught degrees at Zhangzhou. Their campus and accommodation fees differ from Xiang’an MBBS.

Selected undergraduates receive RMB 30,000 for one academic year. Applicants need HSK 3 or above, a high-school qualification, foreign nationality and good health, and must be under 30.
Freshman and later awards
School and college freshman scholarships use merit selection after admission review. Fujian support in later years requires a successful review and fresh selection. Apply with FirstLiners; the study fee subtotal is shown before scholarship awards.
Scholarships depend on eligibility, selection and any required review. Plan for the full fees until an award is granted; fee subtotals do not include scholarship deductions.

Entry requirements.
Age and school qualification
MBBS applicants must be aged 18–25 by 1 September 2026. Final-year high-school students or graduates need a satisfactory academic record. Under-18 applicants submit the specified guarantee statement.
Nationality and health
Applicants must be non-Chinese ordinary-passport holders in good physical and mental health. Relevant Chinese-origin applicants undergo citizenship review and document four years of foreign nationality and two years abroad in the preceding four years ending 30 April 2026.
English
IELTS Academic 6.0, TOEFL iBT 80, a high-school English-medium certificate, or an accepted equivalent. Applicants from countries where English is an official language are exempt from this evidence requirement.
CSCA and clinical Chinese
Medicine requires Mathematics plus Physics, Chemistry or both, tested in English. The MBBS programme requires HSK Level 4 before clinical practice.
HSK Level 4 is required before clinical practice.
Complete the Financial Support Guarantee Statement and provide its supporting documents.
MBBS is based at Xiang’an; the English-taught design and art degrees are based at Zhangzhou.
MBBS lasts six years at Xiang’an. Environmental Design, Visual Communication Design and Digital Media Art each last four years at Zhangzhou.

Passport
Provide the ordinary-passport photograph page, valid through at least 31 October 2026.
Birth certificate

High-school qualification and grades
Provide the high-school diploma and full transcripts. Final-year students may initially use expected-graduation proof, but the final diploma is required before registration. Originals are checked on arrival.
Language certificate
Provide evidence for an accepted English-test, English-medium-schooling or official-language exemption route.
CSCA score report
Provide CSCA Mathematics plus Physics, Chemistry or both, taken in English for the medical programme.
Recommendation letter
Provide one recommendation signed by the writer or stamped by the organisation, with the recommender’s name, employer, position and contact details.
Personal statement
Write at least 800 words in English covering your background, education, motivation, study plan and career goals.
Pre-acceptance letter — optional
A college-stamped pre-acceptance letter is optional and gives priority in selection. It does not replace the admission assessment.
Medical examination
Provide the Inbound Traveller examination record, chest X-ray, ECG, laboratory results and required data sheets. The hospital stamp must overlap the lower photograph. Results are valid for six months.
Financial guarantee
Provide the Financial Support Guarantee Statement and supporting evidence. Scholarship applicants must also provide it to FirstLiners for the university file.
Police clearance
Provide a valid police-clearance certificate issued within six months before application submission.
Guardianship — under 18
Applicants under 18 provide FirstLiners with the specified guarantee statement. FirstLiners handles the eligibility review and checks the completed document.
Translations
Documents outside Chinese or English require notarised Chinese or English translations.
Nationality records — if applicable
Provide the additional citizenship, nationality and overseas-residence evidence requested for your circumstances. Passing the nationality review is required for admission.

Relevant awards, merit certificates, community-service records and special-skills evidence may be submitted as supporting materials. These do not replace the required application documents.
