FUNDING

Scholarship options.

  • Shanghai Government Scholarship

    Type A covers tuition, accommodation and medical insurance, plus RMB 2,500 per month for undergraduate living expenses. Type B covers tuition and medical insurance.

  • Selection and renewal

    Applicants must be high-school graduates aged 25 or below, meet MBBS academic and language requirements, and show strong results. You cannot hold another scholarship from a Chinese government body or organization at the same time. Awards follow admission and merit assessment; continued support depends on annual review of results, attendance, attitude and conduct. Apply with FirstLiners.

Scholarships depend on eligibility, selection and any required review. Plan for the full fees until an award is granted; fee subtotals do not include scholarship deductions.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

Entry requirements.

  • Education, nationality and health

    Applicants must hold a non-Chinese passport, a high-school diploma or above, have strong academic performance, and be in good physical and mental health.

  • English

    IELTS 6.0 with each band at least 5.0; TOEFL 90 with each section at least 15; CAE 170; or Duolingo 110 or above. Native English or English-medium high school may qualify for university-approved exemption. IB, A-Level or other standardised English results may support an exemption request.

  • CSCA and funding

    Valid CSCA Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry scores are required by the application deadline. Provide a bank deposit certificate showing at least RMB 100,000 or equivalent currency.

  • Nationality history and guardianship

    Relevant former Chinese citizens and foreign-born applicants with Chinese-citizen parents meet four-year foreign-nationality and two-year foreign-residence conditions. Applicants under 18 on 1 September 2026 need an adult guardian living in mainland China with financial means.

  • A bank certificate of at least RMB 100,000 or equivalent currency is required.
  • CSCA Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are all required.
  • English-test exemptions require individual acceptance.
  • Keep passport details unchanged after admission until registration is complete.
  • CSCA Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry plus English evidence or an approved exemption required.
  • At least RMB 100,000 bank evidence; two recommendations, a signed statement, school profile, birth certificate and parents’ identity records.
  • Prepay tuition within two weeks of preliminary admission. Dormitory reservation is required.
  • Follow the application and reporting dates in your FirstLiners intake plan.
YOUR APPLICATION FILE

Documents to prepare.

Prepare this checklist with FirstLiners for the named medical programme. Keep originals and any required translations or certification ready for registration.

  • Passport

    Provide the information page of a passport with at least six months of validity. After admission, passport information must remain unchanged until registration is complete.

  • High-school diploma and transcripts

    Provide originals or notarised copies of the high-school diploma and transcripts covering every course. An expected-graduation certificate is accepted initially; bring originals for registration verification.

  • High-school profile

    Provide the school overview, admission requirements, enrolment statistics, curriculum, grading system and university-placement information.

  • English proficiency evidence

    Provide the accepted English score or approved exemption evidence. Native English, English-medium schooling, IB, A-Level or other standardised English results require university acceptance for exemption.

  • CSCA report

    Provide valid Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry results by the application deadline; all three CSCA subjects are required.

  • Personal statement

    Provide a personal statement written in English and signed by you.

  • Two recommendation letters

    Provide two signed recommendations, including at least one from a high-school subject teacher.

  • Bank deposit certificate

    Provide a bank deposit certificate for at least RMB 100,000 or the equivalent in another currency.

  • Physical examination

    Provide a completed, stamped physical-examination record issued by a public hospital within the preceding six months.

  • Police clearance

    Provide police clearance issued by the authorities in your primary place of residence during the preceding four years.

  • Birth certificate

    Provide your birth certificate for the identity and nationality review.

  • Parents’ identity and nationality

    Provide both parents’ passports, identity cards or household-registration records, as applicable.

  • Conditional nationality or guardian records

    Chinese-origin applicants provide the applicable nationality and travel evidence. Applicants under 18 on 1 September 2026 provide a guardian statement; the adult guardian must live in mainland China and have financial means.

  • Application fee receipt

    Provide proof of the RMB 800 application fee. It is non-refundable; count it once within the agreed application-payment arrangement.

Application and arrival

  • Apply through FirstLiners

    Send FirstLiners colour scans of your original records for the School of Medicine application. The application charge is non-refundable and payment is required for review.

  • Review and acceptance

    Attend the interview if shortlisted. After preliminary admission, accept the offer and prepay tuition within two weeks. This payment counts toward tuition.

  • Visa and arrival

    Follow the admission, visa and registration instructions from FirstLiners. Bring originals for verification. Keep passport information unchanged until registration is complete.
