At a glance.

Ningbo University established its medical school in 1998; it became the Health Science Centre in November 2022. International students have been recruited since 2011. The six-year English-taught MBBS awards the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. The centre combines basic medicine, public health and clinical education through affiliated and teaching hospitals.

What you pay.

The fee plans below cover Clinical Medicine / MBBS. Tuition for the other listed degrees is shown with each programme; their accommodation and additional charges need a separate FirstLiners payment plan.

• Yongjiang twin room: RMB4,000/person/year. Yangguang alternatives: twin RMB900/person/month or single RMB1,200/person/month.
• Medical examination: RMB500 per examination. Residence permit: RMB800/year.
• Books, bedding, water and electricity additional; housing requires advance reservation.

Scholarship options.

• Freshman awards

  Zhejiang Government, Ningbo Government and Ningbo University scholarships each offer selected undergraduates RMB 20,000 for one academic year. These are separate schemes; you cannot add the three amounts together.

• Second year onwards

  The university continuing-student award has RMB 10,000, 5,000 and 3,000 tiers. Zhejiang and Ningbo government undergraduate awards are RMB 20,000. Good grades, attendance and conduct, paid fees and participation in public-welfare activities are required. Only one scholarship may be held at a time; annual selection applies.

Scholarships depend on eligibility, selection and any required review. Plan for the full fees until an award is granted; fee subtotals do not include scholarship deductions.

Entry requirements.

• Age, education and health

  Applicants must be non-Chinese high-school graduates under 25, healthy and of good conduct.

• English and CSCA

  Non-native English speakers submit TOEFL, IELTS or other accepted English-test evidence. HSK is not required for English-taught entry. MBBS requires CSCA Mathematics and Chemistry.

• Nationality review

  Chinese-origin applicants must meet the Ministry of Education nationality and residence rules. Former Chinese citizens need foreign citizenship before 30 April 2022 and more than two years abroad during 30 April 2022–30 April 2026; nine months in a year counts as one year. For citizenship acquired at birth abroad, the Chinese-national parent’s permanent residence abroad must predate the birth, with the applicant also meeting the residence requirement.

• Under eighteen

  Applicants under 18 on 1 September 2026 need a guardian guarantee from an adult living in mainland China.

• CSCA Mathematics and Chemistry are required for MBBS.
• Graduating applicants must provide their completed graduation certificate before the study-visa form is issued.
• MBBS requires CSCA Mathematics and Chemistry, high-school graduation and age under 25.
• Non-native English applicants provide an English-language test result.
• Apply for accommodation in advance through FirstLiners. Your allocated campus and room determine the accommodation charge.

Documents to prepare.

Prepare this checklist with FirstLiners for the named medical programme. Keep originals and any required translations or certification ready for registration.

• Passport

  Provide the passport information page. The passport must remain valid beyond 1 March 2027.

• Photo

  Provide a two-inch colour identification photograph on a white background, without a border, at least 40 KB.

• Diploma

  Provide FirstLiners with the highest diploma. Final-year students may initially use pre-graduation evidence, but must supply the final qualification before the electronic study-visa confirmation is issued.

• Transcripts

  Provide the academic transcripts for your highest qualification, covering the relevant course results.

• Non-criminal certificate

  Provide FirstLiners with the required certificate of no criminal record.

• CSCA scores

  Provide FirstLiners with valid CSCA Mathematics and Chemistry results for MBBS.

• English test

  Non-native English speakers provide TOEFL, IELTS or another accepted English-test certificate.

• Guardian guarantee

  If under 18 on 1 September 2026, provide the guardian guarantee. The guardian must be an adult living in mainland China.

• Physical examination

  Complete every examination item. Include the physician’s signature, hospital stamp and sealed photograph. Examination results are valid for six months.

• Performance certificate

  If you studied in mainland China within the preceding three years, provide a performance certificate covering attendance, conduct and disciplinary history.

• Translations

  Provide FirstLiners with PDF or JPG files. Documents outside Chinese or English need notarised Chinese or English translations.

• Nationality evidence — where applicable

  Supply the nationality and residence records for your circumstances, including any Chinese-national parent’s permanent residence abroad predating your birth. The university reviews eligibility under the nationality rules.

Application and arrival

• Apply through FirstLiners

  Send FirstLiners your academic, English, CSCA, identity and supporting records. Complete document and faculty review, with an interview if requested.

• Pre-admission payment

  Pay first-year tuition by the deadline in the pre-admission notice. This payment counts toward tuition.

• Visa and arrival
