Nantong University’s medical school began as the Private Nantong Medical College, founded in March 1912 by Zhang Jian and his brother. Its six-year English-taught Clinical Medicine programme combines medical sciences, clinical subjects, Chinese and Medical Chinese. Clinical practice takes place in the final two semesters. Teaching resources include clinical-skills and virtual-simulation centres.
The standard English-taught programme is six years, with a maximum study period of ten years. Anatomy, histology, physiology, biochemistry, immunology, pathology and pharmacology form the scientific core.
Diagnostics leads into internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics/gynaecology, paediatrics and other clinical subjects. Clinical practice takes place in semesters eleven and twelve.
Chinese study includes Medical Chinese. Complete the prescribed curriculum and reach at least Level 4 under the international Chinese-language proficiency standard.
