At a glance.

Jinan University’s International School was established in 2001. Its six-year English-taught Clinical Medicine programme is based at Shipai Campus in Guangzhou and awards the Bachelor of Medicine. Medical sciences lead into diagnostics, clinical subjects and public health. The four-year Pharmacy programme is based at Panyu and has its own curriculum and entry requirements.

  • Clinical Medicine at Shipai

    Six years, awarding Bachelor of Medicine. Anatomy, histology and embryology, physiology, pathology and biochemistry support diagnostics, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics and pharmacology. Public health and preventive medicine are included.

  • Language and academic support

    The International School coordinates English support, Chinese teaching and Chinese cultural education with the specialist schools.

  • Other English degrees

    Pharmacy at Panyu lasts four years and covers pharmaceutical sciences and care. Other English degrees include business, computing, communications and food-nutrition degrees. Their CSCA combinations and campus arrangements differ from Clinical Medicine.

Shipai campus accommodation

academic yearRoom allocation determines the final charge. The July 2026 arrival guide requires RMB 1,800 academic-year housing prepayment for Shipai, reconciled against the actual room charge. This is part of accommodation, not an extra fee or a refundable deposit.
  • Shipai accommodation: RMB975–4,000 per academic year.
  • Hostel prepayment: RMB1,800; credited to the room bill. This prepayment forms part of the assigned charges and is counted once.
  • Medical insurance is compulsory and renewed every 12 months. The fee plan includes an annual insurance allowance of RMB 800 per person. Your policy and payment amount are set out in your FirstLiners written quote.
  • Books, supplementary materials, meals, student-union charges, physical examination and other personal costs are additional.
  • University estimate for meals: RMB 1,000–1,500 per month; personal expense, not a university fee.

FUNDING

Scholarship options.

  • Guangdong Government scholarship

    RMB 10,000 for selected outstanding international entrants in their first academic year. Selection is competitive; this is a first-year award.

  • Your funding plan

    The fee totals cover self-funded study. FirstLiners includes scholarship preparation in your application plan. Keep tuition, accommodation, insurance and living expenses funded until an award is granted.

Scholarships depend on eligibility, selection and any required review. Plan for the full fees until an award is granted; fee subtotals do not include scholarship deductions.

Entry requirements.

  • Age and qualification

    Over 18 and no older than 25; high-school diploma or equivalent.

  • Nationality, conduct and health

    Foreign nationality; good physical/mental health and no criminal record. Applicants with relevant Chinese nationality/parentage history must satisfy MOE 2020 No.12 nationality and overseas residence conditions.

  • English

    Non-native speakers: IELTS ≥5.5 (each band ≥5), TOEFL iBT ≥80, or SAT ≥1030.

  • Assessment

    CSCA Mathematics and Chemistry for Clinical Medicine; merit review of academic record, language, conduct and health. A recommendation is required, including self-recommendation plus one teacher recommendation.

  • Medical colour-vision examination

    After enrolment, medical or pharmaceutical entrants diagnosed with colour blindness or colour weakness must transfer to a major outside those fields.

  • Other English degrees

    CSCA: Pharmacy and Food Nutrition and Health use Mathematics/Chemistry; Computer Science and Technology uses Mathematics/Physics; Accounting, Finance, International Economy and Trade, and International News and Communication use Mathematics. FirstLiners coordinates the selected degree’s checklist.

  • Clinical Medicine is taught at Shipai; Pharmacy is taught at Panyu.
  • CSCA subject combinations differ by degree. Clinical Medicine requires Mathematics and Chemistry.
  • Medical insurance is mandatory and renewed annually.

Documents to prepare.

  • Application form

    Prepare the Jinan/Huaqiao registration form with FirstLiners for your programme and route. This form is separate from the personal statement and recommendations.

  • Passport

    Copy; applicants already in China also upload latest valid Chinese visa and entry/exit stamps.

  • CSCA report

    For Clinical Medicine: Mathematics and Chemistry. Other English degrees use their own subject combination; see programme-specific eligibility.

  • High-school diploma

    High-school graduation certificate or school-issued expected-graduation proof. Provide the final diploma by your intake deadline; retain the original for enrolment checks.

  • Academic transcripts

    Academic transcripts for every high-school year. Include international examination results such as SAT, ACT, A-Level, AP or IB if available. Use the university’s document-format rules and retain originals for enrolment verification.

  • Language certificate

    Relevant English-test evidence valid within two years for the review-admission route. Non-native speakers need IELTS at least 5.5 with every band at least 5, TOEFL iBT at least 80, or SAT at least 1030.

  • Personal statement

    For review admission, describe yourself, your education history and your study plans in China. The assessment includes self-recommendation and one teacher recommendation; prepare the route-specific forms requested by the university.

  • Recommendation

    One letter from graduating school, university overseas admissions office, overseas Chinese organisation or recognised community figure; review-admission route.

  • Medical examination

    Medical-major review applicants use the university form, with a report issued within the preceding six months. After enrolment, medical/pharmaceutical entrants diagnosed with colour blindness or colour weakness must transfer to a major outside those fields.

  • Police clearance

    No-criminal-record certificate issued within six months of registration.

  • Nationality supporting records, if applicable

    Former Chinese residents: nationality/household cancellation, foreign nationality acquisition and four-year entry/exit records to 30 April 2026. Foreign citizens at birth with Chinese parent(s): birth-nationality proof, parents’ foreign permanent residence before birth and four-year entry/exit records.

  • Document format

    Chinese/English originals or notarised copies. Other-language documents need the original and a notarised Chinese/English translation. Originals are checked at admission; additional records may be requested. Provide the final diploma by the intake deadline.
