Zhejiang University’s English-taught MBBS is based at the International School of Medicine in Yiwu, whose campus opened in 2023. The Fourth Affiliated Hospital is its teaching hospital. The six-year programme includes early clinical exposure, basic medicine, junior clerkship and final-year rotations. Chinese and Medical Chinese run through the curriculum, with clinical and research mentorship from year 1.

Scholarship options.

  • Lead Scholarship for newcomers

    RMB 20,000 for around 5% of new MBBS students and 30% of new English Biomedical Engineering students. School results, tests, English ability and interview performance guide selection. No separate application is needed; prepay tuition and register on time. Payment follows registration.

  • Academic awards from Year 2

    In Years 2–6, Zhejiang Government awards are RMB 20,000 for around the top 5%. Academic awards are RMB 5,000, RMB 2,500 and RMB 1,000 for 2%, 6% and 12% of the year group. Complete the year’s study, pass every course without retakes or make-up exams and pass the Student Handbook Exam.

  • Award conditions

    The Lead Scholarship cannot be combined with another scholarship. CSC does not cover English MBBS or Biomedical Engineering. Plan for the full fees until a scholarship is awarded. FirstLiners prepares and follows up your scholarship application.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

Entry requirements.

  • Age, passport and school qualification

    Non-Chinese citizens under 25 and at least 17 on 1 September 2026. Under-18 applicants need an adult mainland-China guardian. Complete high school; a pre-graduation certificate is initially accepted, with final diploma by registration.

  • MBBS science preparation

    Aggregate above 70% in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology and Botany). Middle-school results may substitute for one or two subjects not taken at high school.

  • Alternative qualifications

    Alternative qualifications include IB 30 with three relevant science higher-level results, SAT 1200 or A-level BCC. Sri Lankan applicants: local A-level SCC or Cambridge/Edexcel BBC in relevant sciences. FirstLiners assesses the accepted route alongside the science requirements for your chosen degree.

  • English

    IELTS Academic 6.0 with every component at least 5.0; TOEFL iBT 75 with every component at least 15; Cambridge CAE 170; or Duolingo 100. Native English speakers and IB/A-level certificate holders are exempt.

  • CSCA by programme

    MBBS: Mathematics and Chemistry are mandatory; Physics is optional and receives priority consideration. Biomedical Engineering also requires Mathematics and Chemistry, with its own optional-Physics priority rule.

  • Nationality history, health and conduct

    Relevant former Chinese nationals, including Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan cases, must have acquired foreign citizenship before 30 April 2022 and lived abroad for more than two years during 30 April 2022–30 April 2026. Foreign-born applicants with Chinese parentage need parental permanent residence abroad predating birth and the same overseas-residence evidence. More than nine months abroad counts as one year. Good health and conduct are required.

  • MBBS teaching is in Yiwu at the International School of Medicine.
  • Nationality-history cases require supporting records and signed declarations.
  • The final diploma must be available by registration.

    MBBS: Mathematics and Chemistry are mandatory; Physics is optional and may receive priority consideration for the MBBS programme. Biomedical Engineering: Mathematics and Chemistry are mandatory, with its own optional-Physics priority rule. Use the score report required for your exact degree.

  • Guardian guarantee

    Required if under 18 on 1 September 2026; guardian must be an adult living in mainland China.

  • Nationality supporting documents

    Former Chinese nationals: proof of cancellation of Chinese citizenship and household registration, acquisition of foreign nationality, passport entry/exit records for 30 April 2022–30 April 2026, and Nationality Status Self-Statement/Confirmation and Guarantee. Foreign-born applicants with a Chinese parent: citizenship-at-birth proof, parent’s foreign permanent-residence proof predating birth, the same entry/exit period, and nationality statement/guarantee.

  • Signed application commitments

    Obtain the university’s Commitments for Undergraduate Application through FirstLiners, complete and hand-sign it yourself. Applications without this form are not accepted.

  • Document format

    Provide FirstLiners with originals or notarized scans. All documents must be Chinese or English; other languages require the original plus notarized translation. Application review is online; mailed or emailed hard-copy substitutes are not processed.

  • Standardized/entrance examinations

    National university-entrance or international standardized examination results, if applicable, such as SAT, IB, A-level, ACT, STPM or UEC.

  • Tuition prepayment

  • Visa and registration

    FirstLiners coordinates result tracking, the downloadable Admission Notice and electronic study-in-China confirmation for the visa. Follow individual arrival instructions and present original certificates. A final diploma is required by registration.
