FUNDING

Scholarship options.

  • Main scholarships

    Fujian Provincial Government Scholarship: RMB 35,000 per academic year, with limited places. Outstanding International Students: RMB 35,000, 15,000, 10,000 or 5,000 per academic year. Freshmen must rank within the top 30% of self-funded applicants; prior results carry 30% and entrance examination 70% of selection.

  • Awards during study

    Da Bo: RMB 3,000 per academic year. Excellent Intern: RMB 2,000. Academic Progress: RMB 1,000. Chinese Learning: RMB 600–1,400 at the relevant HSK level. Each award has its own selection requirements; the study fee subtotal is shown before scholarship awards.

Scholarships depend on eligibility, selection and any required review. Plan for the full fees until an award is granted; fee subtotals do not include scholarship deductions.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

Entry requirements.

  • Age, health and qualification

    Normally aged 18–30, applicants must hold a high-school qualification or equivalent, be non-Chinese and physically and mentally healthy, without colour blindness or colour weakness.

  • School results

    Mathematics must be at least 70/100, with at least 70/100 in Physics or Chemistry. A university-recognised foundation programme is the alternative academic route.

  • English

    IELTS Academic 6.0 with each band at least 5.0; TOEFL iBT 70 with each section at least 15; or an accepted equivalent. Native English or wholly English-medium previous education may qualify for exemption, with school-issued English grades or instruction-language evidence.

  • Assessment

    Interview score must reach 70/100. The written examination covers English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics; an accepted valid CSCA Mathematics plus Physics or Chemistry report replaces it.

  • Nationality

    Relevant Chinese-origin applicants need four years of foreign nationality and two years abroad in the preceding four years to 30 April of the intake year.

  • CSCA Mathematics plus Physics or Chemistry may replace the university written examination when accepted.
  • Tuition prepayment counts toward tuition and is generally non-refundable.
  • Bring original application records and printed admission and visa documents to registration.
  • Age 18–30; high-school graduation; no colour blindness or colour weakness.

Documents to prepare.

  • Passport

    Provide FirstLiners with a clear information-page scan of your valid passport.

  • Diploma

    Provide your highest qualification. Current students may initially provide FirstLiners with a school-issued current-enrolment or expected-graduation certificate. The required original qualification must be available at registration.

  • Transcripts

    Provide complete transcripts with all course results for the preceding qualification. Use Chinese or English records, with notarised English translations where required.

  • Photo

    For the application, provide a two-inch, bareheaded identification photograph with a blue background. Registration photographs have a separate white-background requirement.

  • Financial guarantee

    Complete the university’s Financial Guarantee Letter and supply evidence of personal, family, government or guarantor funding.

  • Physical examination

    Completed Foreigner Physical Examination Form in Chinese or English.

  • Language evidence

    Provide qualifying English-test evidence or school-issued English grades/instruction-language proof for an accepted exemption. IELTS requires overall 6.0 and each band 5.0; TOEFL requires 70 and each section 15.

  • Non-criminal record

    Provide the required non-criminal-record certificate.

  • CSCA report

    Mathematics plus Physics or Chemistry. An accepted report may replace the university written examination.

  • Registration admission and visa copies

    Bring three printed copies each of the admission letter and JW201/JW202, the original passport, and three copies each of its information, latest entry-stamp and X1 visa pages.

  • Registration originals, photographs and payment

    Bring the original highest qualification and physical-examination record, with three copies each, plus three two-inch white-background photographs. Non-Chinese-Government-Scholarship students provide tuition/accommodation receipts; comprehensive medical insurance is required. Bring original transcripts, language certificates and other required supporting records; missing required originals can lead to cancellation of admission.

  • Pre-admission payment

    After pre-admission, pay the application charge and tuition prepayment shown in the fee section. The prepayment counts toward tuition. These payments are generally non-refundable, including withdrawal or inability to register on time for personal reasons.

  • Visa and arrival

    Use admission and JW202 documents for your X1 visa. Bring originals, printed admission/visa forms, payment evidence and insurance. FirstLiners sends the assigned reporting date and place.
